Under the able guidance of Sh. Dharmesh Sharma, Ld. Principal District & Sessions Judge, DLSA West District Delhi organised Legal Awareness Camp

 DLSA west in association with Ms Urvija Goel organised drug de addiction counselling camp at PS Rajouri Garden where about 18first time offenders who were drug addicts were given counselling &trearment. We then had an awareness campaign near transit camp area of west Delhi

*The drink and the drug evil is in many respects infinitely worse then the evil caused by malaria and the like; for, whilst the latter only injure the body, the former saps both body and soul.*

This quote by Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi aptly summarises ill effects of Drug Addiction. To fight this menace, West District Legal Services Authority (under the aegis of DSLSA and NALSA) celebrating *AZADI KA AMRUT MAHOTSAV* in association with Delhi Police,West District launched a Special Campaign against Drugs and Substance Abuse on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Same was initiated under the able guidance of Sh. Dharmesh Sharma, Ld. Principal District & Sessions Judge/Chairperson, West DLSA. The campaign started with two different strategies-

1. Several first time offenders(from the list submitted by Delhi Police) were requested to come for counseling in PS Rajouri Garden to see whether they were victims of Drugs and Substance Abuse. Counsellors from SPYM and Narcotics Anonymous were there to motivate them. Around 20 people were present whereas 8 people came forward for counseling. Sh. Sunil Gupta,Ld. Secretary, West DLSA also interacted with participants.

2. A Nukkad Natak by Asmita Theatre Group was performed at Transit Camp, Raghubir Nagar to spread the message about ill effects of Drugs Abuse. They were also told about existence of Legal Aid Services and Helpline no. 1516. SHO PS Rajouri Garden and Ld. Secretary, West DLSA addressed the gathering.This was followed by a Help Desk manned by LAC and Counsellors. Pamphlets printed by West DLSA were distributed amongst people. More than 200 people benefitted from the program.
