About Social Fest of IIT Bombay

Abhyuday is organizing the 7th edition of Social Festival in IIT Bombay on 18th & 19th January 2020 based on the theme “The Gen-Z Spark”. As said by Mahatma Gandhi “The future depends on what you do today” our festival incorporates the involvement of youth in tackling various issues such as education, governance, mental health and sustainable development. Together with the students, we ideate, innovate and execute events and campaigns crucial for today’s scenario.

About Adhkiaar: Battle of Words

Debate is a valuable activity for students of all skill levels. Debate teaches useful skills for other academic pursuits and life more generally. Most obviously, debaters build confidence speaking in public and expressing their ideas eloquently.

That comfort speaking in front of others is useful in so many areas of life, from interviews to school presentations to discussions in college seminars. Debating could develop a sense of responsibility in the young generation as they will know specific global and domestic issues and ways in which they can solve those problems.

Thus, as a part of its Social Fest, Abhyuday presents to you its debate competition – Adhikaar; to encourage students to express their views on various social issues faced by the Generation Z while debating; as the benefits of debating are not only limited to the skills built while students are speaking but the preparation for competition also teaches its participants critical thinking and research skills.

Incentives

A cash prize of Rs. 5000/- is at stake.

Participation and Eligibility

• Registrations must be done in a team of two members and intercollege teams can also participate
• The competition will be held on 18th January at IIT Bombay. Thus, all the registering teams will have to be present at IIT Bombay on 18th.
• Topics for debate will be conveyed to you on spot at the time of the competition.
• Further details (such as the structure, venue, timings) will be conveyed to you through an email once the registration ends.
• The debate will be in English only.
