Method of landing the Internship

The application process is really simple. One has to mail his/her CV along with a Covering letter
at rajni.divkar[at]littlecompany.com. The firm shall send confirmation mail to the candidates. Please apply at least 2-3 months in advances before the actual commencement of your
internship period.

First Day of the Internship

The first day in the firm was full of formalities. When I reached the office, I was asked wait for some time in the lobby. Afterwards I was made to fill an internship form, in which I had to fill details about my internship, my college, etc. It almost took me an hour to fulfil all the modalities and then I got the opportunity to interact with my co-intern and other associates.

The firm will provide you Wi-Fi facility, but that is only for work purposes. The firm has a rich resource of commentaries, books and bare acts, which serves dual purpose of providing assistance to your research work and also to enhance your knowledge.

Work Assigned

In the first week of the internship, you would be assigned with a lighter set of work like researching, paganizing documents etc. so that you would have an opportunity to observe the work culture of the firm.

In the second week of the internship, you would be assigned with some good quality work based on the eagerness, performance and interest showcased by you in your first week of the internship.

If you have performed well in your first week of internship, then you would be assigned to a senior associate who would provide you with a lot of good quality work and would also let you assist him/her in their matters.

Unlike other firms, during my internship in Little and Co. I got to work on variety of cases ranging from land acquisition matters, insolvency matters, DRT Matters, Matters relating to MRTP Act, Slum Act, Arbitration and Conciliation Act 2015 etc. I also got an opportunity to work on legal opinions ranging from taxation law, land acquisition matters, insolvency laws etc.

As time progressed, I even got the opportunity to assist the associates in drafting Affidavits, Written statements, Notices, Petitions, various civil applications etc. I also got the work of assisting associates and Senior Associates in high court matters, and even in arbitration proceedings, along with the opportunity of visiting High Court, City Civil Court, DRT, NCLT, NGT and assist Senior Associates in an arbitration proceeding. I got an opportunity to understand the intricacies of the various provisions of law.

Biggest Lessons

I have been interning in Little and Co for nearly four months. I am interning here at the post of the legal trainee. In this one year, I got to learn a lot of things, from the reading briefs to assisting in high court matters as well as attending arbitral proceedings.

Apart from this I got an opportunity to meet various Senior Counsels and even assist them in matters. This helped me boost my confidence and helped me to observe the intricacies of the legal profession on a microscopic level. While interning in Little and Co, I got this opportunity to work on matters ranging from land acquisition, employment matters, to Company application and debt recovery matter.

These opportunities have helped me acquire knowledge from various streams of law. The frequent visits to High Court, City Civil, NCLT, NGT, DRT as well attending Arbitral Proceedings helped me gain knowledge about the working of these courts tribunal and references which is not provided in our basic legal curriculum.

While interning in Little and Co., I got an opportunity to work with many associates, senior associates, partners and senior counsels who helped me study their ways and methods of studying a matter, their style of arguments. All this helped me to develop my own way of studying a matter and method of studying a brief.

Accommodation

Being from Mumbai, I had no issue of accommodation.

Office Timings

The office timing is from 10:30 A.M. to 6:30 P.M. however you may have to stay back after 6:30 P.M. to finish your work. On Saturdays, the office timing is 10:30 A.M. to 5:30 P.M.
