NLU Jodhpur is organizing a webinar on the topic ‘Protection of Foodstuffs under GI: Implication of Traditional Specialities Guaranteed (TSG)’ on September 11, 2021.
The Centre for IP Studies (CIPS) at National Law University Jodhpur is focused on creating a niche space for research in intellectual property. CIPS engages with the community and creates avenues for spreading awareness in Intellectual Property. Its combination of motivated faculty and students aims to make the domain of intellectual property accessible to all through its initiatives. As a part of its dedicated Centre activities intended to promote research and studies in the field of Intellectual Property Rights, the Centre has taken the initiative to organise the webinar.
The Journal of Intellectual Property Studies (JIPS) is a student-run, open-access academic journal published bi-annually by National Law University, Jodhpur. The Journal was established in 2016 and primarily deals with contemporary developments in the field of intellectual property and related laws.
The webinar will focus on the scope of protection of foodstuffs through Traditional Specialities Guaranteed (TSG) category in the EU. The discussions will also revolve around the applicability of the TSG in India as by virtue of The Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act, 1999, foodstuffs are included as a category of goods under the purview of protection under the GI system in India.
The webinar seeks to provide participants with a new perspective on the protection of foodstuffs through a slightly varied approach of the EU.
