The National Webinar on Religious Freedom Under the Constitution of India is organized by Aligarh Muslim University Centre Malappuram on March 24 at 3 PM.

About the Institute

Aligarh Muslim University Centre Malappuram is one of the most prominent educational centres of the Aligarh Muslim University situated in the Malappuram district of Kerela. It was established in 2010 by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Central Government of India.         AMU Malappuram Centre Legal Aid Clinic is the body which inducts students to use their knowledge of law to provide free legal aid to those who are most in need of it through various media. The Legal Aid functions that it performs are preventive, remedial, activist and reformative. Our aim is to spread legal awareness among students and people at large. We endeavor to achieve the target by organizing legal literacy camps, seminars, legal counseling, public speaking, poster making, street plays, liasoning with Legal Services Authorities, jail visits and through various activities.

About the Webinar

The Legal Aid Clinic, Department of Law, Aligarh Muslim University Centre Malappuram, Kerala in collaboration with Legal Aid Clinic, Faculty of Law, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, will host a National Webinar on “RELIGIOUS FREEDOM UNDER THE CONSTITUTION OF INDIA” to be held on 24th March, 2022 (Thursday) at 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM.

Panelist

Chief Guest- Hon’ble Mr. Justice K.T. Thomas, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India.

In March 1996 he was elevated as a judge of the Supreme Court of India. As a judge of the Supreme Court, he rendered many landmark judgments on Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, and Civil Law.  After retirement, the Central Bureau of Investigation published a book containing all the important decisions rendered by him in Criminal Law and termed them as trend-setting judgments in India. 

On attainment of the age of 65, he retired from the Supreme Court. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 2007 for services in the field of social affairs.
