About the Opportunity
Unilever is looking for Legal Manager / Assistant Legal Manager to support West Branch which partners the sales, supply chain function and Sales Centre of Excellence (CoE) for HUL.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Branch Legal Partner: Being the Lead advisor for the Branch office on regulatory and compliance issues in the context of FMCG business. Advise the company on a wide range of legal issues related to sectoral regulations, Employment and Labour laws and handle litigation in the region.
- Litigation Management: Being a proactive business partner by keeping up with litigations filed by HUL or filed against HUL before various forums upto Supreme Court. Strategize and provide guidance to external counsels on litigation strategy.
- Legal Compliance: Ensure the organization complies with all relevant Information Technology Law, Data Privacy, FDI, and E-commerce Laws, both domestic and international.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential legal risks and provide proactive advice and recommendations to mitigate these risks.
- Contract Review and Drafting: Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and policies related to IT, data privacy, FDI, and e-commerce, ensuring they adhere to applicable laws and regulations.
- Data Privacy: Implement data privacy policies, procedures, and practices to protect sensitive personal information, including compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 including other relevant international regulations.
- E-commerce Laws: Stay current on evolving e-commerce laws and regulations, and ensure that the organization’s online business activities are compliant.
- Dispute Resolution: Manage legal disputes related to IT, data privacy, FDI, and e-commerce matters.
- Policy Development: Develop and maintain company policies and guidelines related to IT, data privacy, FDI, and e-commerce in collaboration with relevant functions.
- Training and Education: Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate employees and stakeholders on legal compliance and best practices.
- External Relations: Liaise with external legal counsel, government agencies, and industry associations as needed to represent the organization’s interests.
Eligibility Criteria
- Post Qualification Experience of 7-10 years
- At least 1-2 years of experience in managing litigation.
- Attitude to be a proactive business partner to HUL Sales, Supply Chain teams and Sales Tech teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively advise and negotiate on behalf of the company.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Having keen interest in end to end implication of various regulations and compliances.
- Confidence to lead meetings independently.
