I applied by sending my resumé along with a Cover letter(CV) and Statement of Purpose(SOP) to Email Id of Sr. Legal Consultant of NCPCR. (raman.ncpcr[at]nic.in). You will be asked to bring a recommendation letter when reporting.
I was asked to report at 9 in the morning but my 1st-day formalities started at 10 am. I wrote a joining letter addressed to chairperson NCPCR, submitted my recommendation letter and was ready to begin. NCPCR is at two floors of Chander Lok building 2nd and 5th respectively.
Interns usually sit at 2nd floor but you have to report on the 5th floor. NCPCR is a national institution. It is fully furnished, a beautiful office with hygiene maintained.
Interns are mostly placed under JTE( Junior Technical Expert) or TBC (Task-Based Consultant). NCPCR basically deals with 6 sections: Health, Education, Juvenile Justice, Child Labour, POCSO and Psychology. These divisions are governed by JTE’s and TBC’s, I was placed under Mrs. Shweta Sehgal (JTE) in the education department. Every intern on the
the first day is asked to read the following bare acts:
During your internship, you will get acquainted with the governing of NCPCR. You will be asked to read files, files include cases which are either completed or in process. You will learn how a complaint is received in NCPCR and how redressal is served.
I read many cases to understand the working of NCPCR, I drafted a request for ATR(Action Taken Report) application, which is sent by the commission to the district authorities, you will under the power given to the commission by the CPCR act. I also drafted closure notes and did research work. You are required to do a minimum internship of 28 days, half of my internship I did research on the recent POCSO amendment act.
Officials at NCPCR are very jovial and compatible, they will help you at every step subject: your asking of same.
There’s only one thing wrong at the commission is its location, although it is very near to Janpath metro station gate number 3 but there is no place to eat near commission. If you are joining commission then please do get your lunch box. McDonald’s is 100m away from the commission and the famous Connaught Place of Delhi is also nearby.
It is an unpaid Internship.
